  • SCBM 2022: Industry Interaction Session at Ranchi on 5th April 2023

An Industry interaction session on Special Coal Bed Methane Bid Round – 2022 was held on 05th April 2023 at Ranchi. The participation was from State Government Departments like Department of Industries, Department of Mines and Geology, several PSUs and Private sector mining and Metallurgical Industries in Ranchi. The session was Chaired by Shri. Gautam Sinha, Executive Director (Strategy & Planning), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons along with Shri. Jitendra Kumar Singh, Secretary (Department of Industries), Govt of Jharkhand. Industry players like ONGC, Tata Steel, CMPDI, Central Coalfield Limited, Amamlgam Steel, GAIL, NTPC, Tata Power, Eastern Coalfields Limited, Hindalco, Adani and many others were present in the interactive meet.

 

 

Audience were apprised that, the production of CBM gas in the country is currently about 2 Million Cubic Metres per day. Jharkhand may be an important base for CBM industry. Under Special CBM Bid Round-2022, one offered CBM Blocks fall in Jharkhand covering an area of around 550 Sq. Km.

 

 

It was informed that the offering of blocks under SCBM-22 is designed in a way to boost the Investor’s confidence. The terms and conditions are highly investor friendly, like no prior experience in oil & gas is mandatory, operator is not required to share any revenue with GOI till Windfall Gain, each block falls within a single state for administrative ease, single license for conventional & unconventional, full marketing and pricing freedom for gas produced, etc. It was also conveyed that Geoscientific Data for Blocks on offer is being showcased through National Data Repository’s (NDR) data rooms with interpretation facilities which would assist the potential bidders in making informed decisions.

 

 

Department of industries (Govt of Jharkhand) gave presentation on details Single Window System of Jharkhand, and conveyed to the prospective Investors that Govt of Jharkhand in pursuant to ‘Investor Friendly Environment’ is focused to create and improve ease of doing business in the State. This is being facilitated by providing accelerated and time-bound grants of various licenses, permissions & approvals, promoting industrial development and facilitating new investments as well as by simplifying the regulatory framework by reducing procedural requirements and rationalizing documents. It was also emphasized that CBM is the need of the hour as a clean energy source to fuel the economy and support the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
