6.5 DISCOVERED SMALL FIELD BID Out of the 22 shortlisted companies, 15
ROUND-I (2016) were first-time entrants into the Indian E&P
sector.
To reduce India’s dependence on imported oil
and gas, the Government of India launched Ultimately, 20 companies (either solo or
the Discovered Small Field (DSF) Bid Round-I in consortium) signed RSCs, including 13
on May 25, 2016, under the vision of the Hon’ble companies new to the upstream industry in
Prime Minister. India.
In this round, 46 Contract Areas with 67
discoveries were offered across 9 sedimentary
basins, covering ~1,551 sq. km with an estimated
86 Million Metric Tonnes (MMtoe) of in-place
reserves.
As a result, 30 Contract Areas were awarded - 23
onland and 7 shallow offshore, covering 777 sq.
km with 44.66 MMtoe of reserves.
The Revenue Sharing Contracts for these blocks
were signed on March 27, 2017, just 10 months
after the launch.
6.5.1 Key Highlights of DSF Bid Round-I are as
outlined below:
