6.6 DISCOVERED SMALL FIELD BID 6.6.1 Key Highlights of DSF Bid Round-II are
ROUND-II (2018) as outlined below:
Building upon the momentum of the DSF Bid A total of 145 bids were received for 24
Round-I, the Government of India launched DSF contract areas.
Bid Round-II on August 9, 2018, with renewed
focus and enhanced investor-centric features. 14 companies were shortlisted for 23 contract
The round followed the formal extension of the areas with 8 being new to the E&P sector.
DSF Policy of 2015 for future rounds in April
2018, which retained the fiscal incentives of the
original policy while reducing the royalty rates
in alignment with the Hydrocarbon Exploration
and Licensing Policy (HELP).

In this round, the Government offered 25 Contract
Areas encompassing 59 discoveries spread
across seven sedimentary basins, covering an Status of DSF-II
expansive 3,042 sq. km. These blocks held an 1
estimated 190 Million Metric Tonnes (O+OEG) of Contract Area:
in-place hydrocarbon reserves. Total No. 24
Following evaluation, 24 Contract Areas were
awarded, including 15 onshore and 9 shallow
offshore blocks with 58 discoveries, covering
approximately 3,004 sq. km and holding 188.9 18
MMtoe of in-place reserves.
The Revenue Sharing Contracts (RSCs) for 23
Contract Areas were signed on March 7, 2019, Active PML Awaited Relinquished/Terminated
with one additional RSC signed in January 2021.
